Caribbean Church Update: Solidarity and Social Transformation
Vol. 1 | Issue 12
A weekly roundup of significant happenings, moves, and missions across the Caribbean’s Christian and ecumenical landscape.
Headline: Caribbean Bishops Issue Urgent Plea for Cuba Amid Humanitarian Crisis
The Antilles Episcopal Conference (AEC), led by Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon, has issued a profound statement of "pastoral concern" for the people of Cuba. Following the recent escalation of international oil embargos, the island is facing acute shortages of fuel, causing massive blackouts that have crippled two-thirds of the country and disrupted hospital and water systems.
The bishops emphasized that "while Cuba stands in need of renewal and positive changes, it does not need more pain." They have called on regional leaders to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy over coercion, urging that humanitarian aid reach the most vulnerable—the elderly and children—without "political manipulation or delays."

Despite admitting to "unfinished work," Bishop Harvey expressed "tremendous hope" for the future of the Grenadian church, specifically praising the resilience of local lay leadership.
Interfaith Outreach: Ramadan 2026
While the focus is often on intra-Christian unity, ecumenical bodies in the region have been engaging in significant interfaith work this week. Various Christian councils have joined in "Duyog Ramadan" outreach, emphasizing shared values of fasting, sacrifice, and service to the poor.
